Die Künstler des Goldenen Zeitalters nahmen davon vielfältige Anregungen auf, darunter Rembrandt van Rijn. Aus der Verlagsmeldung: „Bereits zu seinen Lebzeiten wurde Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606–1669) wegen seiner Radierkunst sehr geschätzt. Die Werke zeichnen sich durch genaue Beobachtung und grosse Lebensnähe aus. Darüber hinaus beeindruckt Rembrandts einmalige Handhabung der Radiertechnik: Der Reichtum an graphischen Ausdrucksmitteln sowie eine ausgeprägte Experimentierfreude machen aus jedem einzelnen Druck ein unverwechselbares Kunstwerk und begehrtes Sammlerstück. Ein erfahrener Rembrandt-Kenner dieser Tage ist der in Bern ansässige Auktionator und Sammler Eberhard W. Kornfeld. 2007 vermachte er den grössten Teil seiner Sammlung an Rembrandt-Radierungen dem Kupferstichkabinett des Kunstmuseum Basel. Eine zweite, 31 Werke umfassende Schenkung erfolgte 2019. Die Publikation umfasst ein Interview mit dem Stifter sowie alle 31 Werke der zweiten Schenkung.“
